| KLK10

Kinin releasing enzyme 10 (KLK10) is a protein that is encoded by the KLK10 gene.Kallikreins are a subgroup of serine proteases with distinct physiological functions.There is growing evidence that many kallikreins are implicated in carcinogenesis, and some have the potential to serve as biomarkers for novel cancers and other diseases.This gene is one of 15 members of the kallikrein subfamily located on chromosome 19.The protein it encodes is secreted and may play a role in suppressing tumourigenesis in breast and prostate cancer.Alternate splicing of this gene results in multiple transcript variants encoding the same protein.
